Why this business exists
My name is Mike MacMullin, and I am a recent graduate of Red Deer Polytechnic with a diploma in Computer Programming. Long before that, though, I was the person friends, family, and extended family called when something stopped working, would not connect, would not print, or somehow locked them out again.
For as long as I can remember, I have been the family tech guy. That experience taught me something important: for many people, technology is not just inconvenient when it breaks - it becomes stressful, embarrassing, and exhausting. A lot of people know exactly what it feels like to have to ask for help for the third, fourth, or umpteenth time just to log back into Facebook, reconnect a printer, or figure out why the Wi-Fi suddenly stopped cooperating.
Our mission
Extended Family Tech Solutions exists to provide patient, practical, and affordable support for the people who are too often overlooked - especially seniors, families, and small local businesses.
Too many people end up feeling rushed, talked down to, or priced out of getting real help. Seniors in particular are often expected to keep up with devices, passwords, updates, apps, scams, account recovery, and constant changes in technology without being given the time, patience, or support they actually need.
I want Extended Family Tech Solutions to be different. That means taking the time to explain things in plain English, treating people with respect, and helping them feel more comfortable and confident with the technology in their lives instead of making them feel like a burden for asking questions.
Fair help at a fair rate
I also understand that many seniors and smaller households are working within a fixed budget, and many small businesses simply cannot justify large-provider pricing for everyday support. That is part of why EFTS keeps its rates straightforward and reasonable.
Our standard rate is $75 per hour, billed in 30-minute increments. That means if a job takes 30 minutes, you are billed for 30 minutes - not a full hour just because that is how bigger providers prefer to do it.
The goal is not to cut corners. The goal is to offer honest value, practical support, and a more personal experience for people who deserve better than being ignored or overcharged.
Who we help
Seniors
Patient help with computers, phones, passwords, printers, email, Facebook, online accounts, and everyday technology frustrations.
Families and households
Support for home Wi-Fi, device setup, smart devices, account issues, security basics, and the weird little tech problems that pile up over time.
Small local businesses
Affordable help for offices and shops that need practical support but are often too small to get real attention from larger IT providers.
A more personal kind of support
At the end of the day, Extended Family Tech Solutions is about helping people feel less overwhelmed by technology. Whether the issue is big or small, the goal is the same: provide clear answers, fair pricing, and support that feels human.
If you are looking for someone who will be patient, practical, and honest with you, I would be glad to help.
